Welcome to the first of our monthly newsletters! We anticipate sending out a newsletter once a month to help keep everyone informed on newly added site functionality, and any possible downtime within the upcoming month. We will also be featuring one of you each month as a “Spotlight Photographer”, providing a simple How-To on some commonly misunderstood functionality, and be displaying a “Tip from a Pro” on how to use Instaproofs to your best advantage.
News and Announcements
First we will start out with some great news… we now have a full time, dedicated support member on the Instaproofs team! Eric Gish started full time on January 2nd, and has been providing awesome full time support through Live Support and the new ticketting system. Eric can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org and through the Live Support link on the website from 8:00am - 4:00PM (MST) each weekday. If you have any questions or comments just start up a Live Support session and he'll help you out quick!
Some new functionality added within this month is that you can now give your clients control over the images that are displayed to their friends and family. Through the event information page you can define up to two email addresses for each event that, when provided to enter an event, will give your client a “hide from others” link underneath each image. When your client clicks the “hide from others” link it will instantly remove that image from being displayed to anyone that does not have the same “hide” ability. If your client wants to “un-hide” the image, they also have that ability.
We also have something for you to look forward to this summer: our designer (Pete Lasko) has been busily creating a fantastic new look for the storefronts and corporate website. Below is a small taste of what's to come… click on the image for a PDF containing more screenshots. If you like how your storefront currently looks, don't worry, you will not be forced to change.
How to: “Discount Days” Discounts
We have a lot of questions come in asking about how the “discount days” type of discounts work, so hopefully we can shed some light on this here. The discount days type of discount should be used by those of you that would like to have a standard, reusable discount tier program setup based on the time that an event has been online. Some photographers prefer having discounts setup this way for the begining of the even't life, and some prefer to have discounts run just before the event expires; it is up to you to decide what is right for your business.
The way that this discount type is setup is by going into the “discounts” page within “Setup” tab. The top discount option is the discount days type, so click the “Create New” button to get started with this discount. The first page you see when creating this type of discount is a screen asking for a name to use for this discount. The name is something that only you will see, and should be something that will help you remember what the discount's intended purpose is. Once you have given your discount a name, click the “Update” button to go on to the next step.
The next step is to click the “Add New” link on the next page and define how long you want the discount period to run, and how much of a discount you would like to offer for that discount period. You can add as many day sets as you would like in order to create a tiered discount effect. For example, if you wanted to create a tier where you offer 30% off for the first 10 days, 15% off for the next 10 days, and then 5% for a final 10 days you would need to click the “Add New” link three times and set it up like this: First) 10 days, 30% discount; Second) 20 days, 15% discount; Third) 30 days, 5% discount. Notice that the days are *cummulative* for the discount period definitions, and are not just 10 days, 10 days, 10 days.
After your discount is setup the way you want it, you can apply the discount to your event(s) by going into the event information page and selecting the discount from the droplist at the top of the page. These discount periods start the day that the event is activated, so if you want a 7 day discount to actually run for the full 7 days you will need to attach the discount to the event when you first create the event.
