DAY 5 - GETTING STARTED SERIES
ALL THINGS DIGITAL
Isn't it amazing how quickly the world switched from primarily wanting prints to primarily wanting digital files?? To help ease your digital burden (goodbye dropbox!) we've set up quite a few options for getting your digital files to your clients.
 
SHOOT-AND-SHARE (FREE DOWNLOADS)
There's an ever-growing trend to include digital files with every paid photo session, and setting up these types of downloads for your clients couldn't be easier. Here's how it works:
  • Create a new event from the Event List page.
  • After filling in the details for your event, click the "Add Client Email Addresses & Download Permissions" link.
  • From there you can enter your client's email address and select the download permissions you'd like to give them.
  • Click the Save button to finish creating the event and to save the download permissions you just created.
And that's it! Once your client has been set up with their download permissions and the images have been uploaded into the event, everything will be handled right on the gallery itself. This means no more back-and-forth emails asking for specific file numbers, no more uploading to dropbox and sending links, and no more wasting time on digital images when you could be doing other things!

PAID DOWNLOADS
Paid downloads are a little more work to setup than free downloads, but what's awesome about paid downloads is that you only have to set them up once and then they can provide you with a nice additional stream of revenue!

Individual Image (Paid) Downloads

Paid individual downloads are set up through the Print Sets area within the Setup tab, as follows:

  • Click the "Create New" button to begin creating a print set.
  • Select the "Instant Image Download" option where it asks for a "Print Set Type."
  • Fill in the rest of the details, such as the download size and a short description, for the option that you are creating.
  • Save the new option.
  • Head to the Prices / Shipping page to give your new download option a price.
  • Click on the name of the pricing template that you would like to add your new download option to.
  • Add a price for the digital download option.
  • Save your changes.
Once the item has been added to your pricing template(s) it will automatically be displayed as a purchase option on your storefront.

Full Gallery (Paid) Downloads

Setting up an option for your clients to purchase full gallery downloads can be done through the Products page within the Setup tab, as follows:

  • Click the "Create New" button to create a new product.
  • Give the product a name, such as "Full Gallery Download", and give it a short description.
  • Select the "Full Event Instant Download" option where it asks for a "Product Type."
  • Select which event type(s) you would like this product to be available on.
  • Save the product.
  • Directly after saving the product click the "Create New" button to define one or more options for it.
  • Name the option something along the lines of "Low Resolution Download" or "High Resolution Download", and select either "1280px on the Largest Side" or "Full Resolution" as the Max Download Size.
  • Finish setting up the option by giving it a description and a price.
  • Save the product option.
After the product and its option(s) have been created they will immediately appear as purchasable options on your storefront.
